Narendra Modi during his visit to Singapore addressed the people in Nanyang technical university. He said that Singapore is a bridge between India and ASEAN. He handed Padma Shri award to Singapore's PM Tommy Koh (Public Affairs), who is among the 10 ASEAN recipients of the award.
While interacting with the students and professors he said Technology empowers people. A technology-driven society breaks social barriers. With the advancement of technology everything can be achieved easily.people should accept it wholeheartedly.
Modi said that India and China have dominated global trade for centuries. There were no conflicts before. He further added that the world is convinced that 21st century belongs to Asia.
He even planted a Neem tree in the university. Along with it, as a remembrance showing his gratitude towards the prime minister of Singapore PM Modi presented him a replica of 6th-century Buddhagupta Stele that bears Sanskrit phrases in Pallava script.
