Kharge's 'Ram vs Shiva' Remark Stirs Political Controversy in Chhattisgarh

RAIPUR : A political controversy has erupted in Chhattisgarh after Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge made a remark during a campaign rally comparing a Congress candidate's name, Shivakumar Dahariya, to Lord Shiva, stating he could compete with Lord Ram due to his name. Kharge also warned the BJP against using religious rhetoric to influence voters, emphasizing the need for people to avoid being misled by religious discussions.

However, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) did not take kindly to Kharge's comments. Party national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla criticized the Congress for what he perceived as divisive and anti-Hindu rhetoric, accusing the party of trying to pit deities against each other and divide Hindus for political gain. Poonawalla also claimed that the Congress aims to unite its Muslim vote bank by dividing Hindus.

The incident has intensified the political tension between the Congress and the BJP, with accusations of promoting religious divisions while trying to sway voters. Poonawalla argued that Congress's approach was rooted in a broader agenda of opposing Prime Minister Modi rather than genuinely serving the interests of the people.
