Now the price of cars is going to increase after the introduction of GST cess. The reason for this is the increase in cess by the government's GST Council. Under this, from luxury cars to SUVs and also small cars will be included.

According to the new rules, the cess on mid-size trains can be increased from 2% to 17%. 5% to 20% for big cars and for the SUV it can be 7% to 22%.

Under the old rules, there was a provision of 28% tax and 15% additional cess for luxury cars and SUVs. According to the new provisions of cess, mid-size cars, large-size cars and SUVs have reached 45, 48 and 50 percent respectively.

However, the GST Council, headed by the Minister of Defense Arun Jaitley, tried to not install cess on small cars whose length was 4 meters and has 1200 cc engine capacity.

In the festive season, the car makers are being asked to revisit the price again. Thereby affecting consumer demand. Jaguar Land Rover CMD and President Rohit Suri said that we are happy that the government has taken cognizance of our concerns.

The GST Council saw that there was no change in the price of vehicles even after GST, hence they took this step. Hyundai's new variant, Creta, Elite A20, Elantra, Honda City, CRV, Toyota Innova Crista, Renault Duster, Tata Nexa, Jeep Compass etc. may become costly.
