HYDERABAD:  In a tragic incident, a 21-year-old final year B.Tech student committed suicide by jumping from the third floor of a building at Brindavan colony in Chikkadpally on Friday. According to the police, the deceased was identified as Sushmita (21), a BTech final year student of a private engineering college in Ghatkesar. She was the eldest daughter of Rajendra Prasad and Madhavi. Sushmita did not inform her parents about her fee arrears in the college fearing that they cannot make the payment.

Sushmitha had forgotten to inform her parents about the examination fee and the college called her father asking him to pay it immediately with a fine. “The parents were unaware about the notification until the college informed them,’’ Inspector Venkat Reddy said. Depressed over the whole issue, Sushmitha came out of the house, locked the door from outside and jumped. The locals who saw her immediately rushed her to a private hospital in Vidyanagar, where she died while undergoing treatment. A case was registered under section 174 (suspicious death) of IPC.
