Bengaluru: In a tragic incident, a cylinder blast at the shooting spot of Kannada movie killed a mother and her daughter on the spot here at Bengaluru industrial area. "Two people have died and one is injured," Assistant Commissioner of Police (Sampigehalli division) Mohammed Humayun Nagte said. The victims have been identified as Sumaira (28) and Ayira (8). The injured woman has not been identified, police said.

The film crew was shooting a car blast sequence in Bagalur Industrial Area when the debris from the car hit a family of four. Sumera and Arya were killed in the blast, and the father and another child were injured and are admitted to Ambedkar Hospital in Bengaluru. Soon after the incident, the team shooting the movie escaped from the scene and they had failed to take safety measures and prior permission from the authorities to carry out shooting that included exploding cylinder.
According to MN Reddi, DG of Fire Services, the film's crew had not obtained any prior permission to shoot the blast sequence. DCP, while issuing a statement after the incident said “The movie team had not taken any permission for shooting the movie, let alone exploding a cylinder. Moreover, they did not undertake safety measures at the shooting spot as well. Strict action will be taken against the team”, DCP Kalakrishna Swamy, NorthEast Division.
