Bhubaneswar: A major accident has taken place near odisha-Andhra Pradesh border. Here, 8 migrant workers have gone missing while one has died after a boat capsized in the Sileru river. The incident took place inside the border of Chitrakoora police station. Rescue operations have started here since the incident.
The boat reportedly suddenly capsized in the Sileru river within the limits of Chitrakonda police station, in which 8 migrant workers went missing while the body of one has been recovered. Teams have started rescue operations to search for 8 workers. However, no information has yet been revealed as to why the boat capsized. On the other hand, in view of the threat of cyclone Yaas, the process of evacuating people from coastal areas of West Bengal and Odisha has started. Rescue and relief teams are being sent from one place to another. Defence aircraft and navy ships have been asked to keep alertness.
The Met department said the 'low pressure area' in the Bay of Bengal has now turned into a 'pressure zone'. Cyclone 'Yaas' is expected to hit the eastern coastal areas of Odisha and West Bengal on Wednesday. Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik said the state is fully prepared to deal with the severe cyclonic storm 'Yas'. Yas scan knock near Balasore on May 26. CM Patnaik also said that we are fully prepared and our officers are in touch with the central government officials.
