In front of the April 18 polling date in Karnataka, the BJP, Congress, and JD(S) have announced their candidates list for 14 constituencies in the state. The greatest battles to look out for in the state are:

1. Mandya, where the BJP is supporting Sumalatha Ambareesh, who is going up against JD(S)' Nikhil Kumaraswamy
2. Bangalore North, where the BJP is fielding D V Sadananda Gowda against the Congress' Krishna Byre Gowda

3. Bangalore South, where the BJP is fielding Tejaswi Surya against the Congress' B K Hariprasad

4. Bangalore Central, which will see a three-way fight between the BJP's P C Mohan, Congress' Rizwan Arshad and Prakash Raj, who is contesting as an independent.

Karnataka has a total of 28 constituencies, of which seven are reserved exclusively for SC/ST candidates. Those constituencies are Bellary (ST), Bijapur (SC), Chamarajanagar (SC), Chitradurga (SC), Kalburgi (SC), Raichur (ST) and Kolar (SC).
