Adelaide: A freight aircraft filled with cocaine has been crashed while taking takeoff on the way to Australia. Police said a Melbourne-based criminal syndicate was busted in the incident and five people with alleged links with the Italian mafia were also arrested. The Australian Federal Police said in a statement that it cannot rule out that the weight of cocaine had an impact on the ability of aircraft (SIC).

On giving information, officials have said that the plane flew from the small town of Mirba in Queensland to Papua New Guinea and was flying at an altitude of about 3,000 feet to avoid the radar. In recent times, five suspects were arrested in Queensland and Victoria, charged with conspiracy to import more than 500 kilograms of cocaine and related offenses.

If these charges are proved on him, then he can be sentenced to life imprisonment. Two days later, the pilot has also handed himself over to the police. After searching the area, a pile of cocaine was finally discovered on Friday. Its total value has been estimated at around 8 million Australian dollars (4 billion 27 crore rupees).
