Cuddalore: In a Horrifying incident, a shepherd and over 50 sheep were run over by a TNSTC bus at Seppakkam near Veppur in Cuddalore district on Tuesday night.
The accident took place when Lakshmanan of Sivaganga district was guiding a herd of over 200 sheep on his motorcycle from Elavanasurkottai on the Tiruchy-Chennai National Highway.
The owner Lakshmanan, who was taking goats for grazing, tragically died when a bus collided with him on the national highway near Veypur in Cuddalore district. More than 100 goats also died in this accident. The incident in which the owner of the goats and more than a hundred goats in a row were killed when a government bus collided with it has caused a great shock.
In this case, he drove more than three hundred sheep from Elavasanur Fort on the Trichy-Chennai National Highway early this morning. Then Lakshmanan came behind the goats on his two-wheeled vehicle. Around 3 am in the morning while coming towards Veypur, a government bus belonging to Chengalpattu workshop, which was behind Chepakkam Manimutthar bridge, rammed into goats while heading towards Trichy, killing more than a hundred sheep and goats on the national highway. Lakshmanan and 56 sheep died on the spot. The body of Lakshmanan was shifted to the Virudhachalam General Hospital.
The Veppur police have registered a case.
