In a shocking revelation, a massive data breach has exposed the personal information of approximately 810 million Indian citizens on the dark web. A recent report by Resecurity, a US-based cybersecurity firm, has brought to light this alarming breach of sensitive data.

The compromised data includes a wide range of personal details such as names, phone numbers, addresses, Aadhaar numbers, and passport information. This information is currently up for sale on various illicit online platforms.

Resecurity detailed the incident in a blog post, stating, "On the 9th of October, an individual operating under the alias 'pwn0001' initiated a thread on Breach Forums, offering access to a staggering 810 million records belonging to Indian citizens, encompassing both Aadhaar and passport data." It's worth noting that India's total population exceeds 1.486 billion people.

Furthermore, Resecurity's HUNTER (HUMINT) unit conducted a thorough investigation and managed to establish contact with the individual behind the breach. Shockingly, the perpetrator was willing to sell the entire Aadhaar and Indian passport database for a mere $80,000.

This data breach has raised serious concerns regarding the security of personal information in the digital age, with potentially severe consequences for those whose data has been exposed. Authorities and cybersecurity experts are working diligently to address this alarming situation and mitigate the impact on the affected individuals.
