The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced a new feature keeping in mind the privacy and security of data associated with your Aadhaar number. With the help of this feature, you can easily lock or unlock your Aadhaar number. In case the Aadhaar number is locked, authentication will not be done with its help. In such a situation, with the help of virtual ID, you will be able to verify. Let's know the whole way step by step

Unlock in this way: Once again send SMS to OTP from 1947 on the previously registered mobile number. You have to send 'GETOTP Aadhaar number last six digits'. For example, if your Aadhaar number is 6758 6752 3487, then you will have to write your GETOTP523487 in SMS and send it to 1947.

After receiving OTP, you will have to send the second SMS by writing 'last 6 digits of UNLOCKUID virtual ID in 6-digit OTP' format to 1947 only. For example, if OTP 127865 has arrived, then LOCKUID523487127865 has to be written and sent to 1947. After this the confirmation message will come and the Aadhaar number will be unlocked.

Here's how to lock: Send SMS from your registered mobile number to 1947, so that you can get one-time-password (OTP). You have to send this SMS in some format like 'last four digits of GETOTP Aadhaar number'. For example, if your Aadhaar number is 6758 6752 3487, then send your SMS in GETOTP3487 to 1947.

Now you will get an OTP of 6 digits. After this, send another SMS to the same number by writing 'last four digits of LOCKUID Aadhaar number, 6 digit OTP' in this format. For example, if OTP 287965 arrived, it would have to be written to LOCKUID3487287965 and sent to 1947. After this your Aadhaar number will be locked.
