New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has given tickets to almost 45 candidates with criminal records in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections (MCD Election) to be held this year, while BJP has 27 such candidates. The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) has claimed this in one of its reports. It has been told in the report that 'AAP' has fielded 250 candidates, out of which 248 self-declared affidavits were analyzed by ADR and 18 percent of them i.e. 45 candidates were found to be criminal. Not only this, but at least 8 percent of AAP candidates have serious criminal cases against them. That is, AAP, which calls itself staunchly honest, has given tickets to leaders with the most criminal image in the MCD elections.

According to reports, the BJP has fielded 250 candidates and 27 of its candidates (11 percent) have criminal records, while the Congress has fielded 25 candidates with criminal records. The report said that 45 (18 percent) out of 248 candidates from AAP, 27 (11 percent) out of 249 candidates from BJP, and 25 (10 percent) out of 245 candidates from Congress have criminal cases against themselves. There are 1,349 candidates in the fray for the MCD elections. Self-declared affidavits of 1,336 out of 1,349 candidates were analyzed by ADR and Delhi Election Watch. At least 139 candidates contesting elections this year have criminal cases against them. Six percent of the candidates have serious criminal cases against them.

Whereas, according to the report, BJP has the maximum number of crorepati candidates. This has been claimed in the ADR report. Two of the top three richest candidates are from the BJP and one from the AAP. According to reports, BJP's Ram Dev Sharma, who is contesting from the 79-Ballimaran ward, has shown total assets of Rs 66 crore. Nandini Sharma, representing the party from 149-Malviya Nagar ward, has declared assets of over Rs 49.84 crore, while Jitendra Bansala, AAP's candidate from 248-Karawal Nagar, has declared assets of over Rs 48.27 crore in his affidavit.
