New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has received donations of more than Rs 37.5 crore in the year 2019-20. Delhi CM and party president Arvind Kejriwal has contributed about 1.20 lakh rupees to the party fund. AAP submitted the contribution amount report of 2019-20 in the Election Commission in December last year. The contribution amount report states that the party has received more than Rs 37.52 crore from people and companies in 2019-20.

The Election Commission has now made this contribution report public. This report is more than 350 pages, which contains a list of donors. Kejriwal has donated 10-10 thousand rupees to the party fund about 12 times. Under the law, it is necessary for political parties to give information in relation to individuals, companies, electoral trusts and organizations that donate more than Rs 20,000. The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) has submitted a report on donations of more than Rs 20 thousand to national political parties. Donors have contributed the most to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), while the Congress is in second place.

JP Nadda-led BJP received Rs 742.15 crore in donations of more than Rs 20,000 during the last financial year, which is 3.5 times more than the donations received by other national parties. According to the ADR report, the total donations announced by the national political parties for the financial year 2018-19 was Rs 951.66 crore.
