New Delhi: Former Minister of Delhi's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government Rajendra Pal Gautam has alleged that he has received death threats from a religious guru. Police said they have received a complaint and are investigating the matter. Rajendra Pal Gautam had to resign from the Kejriwal government after his derogatory remarks on Hindu gods and goddesses.

Gautam has said that he has also written a letter to the President and the Home Minister along with filing a police complaint. He claims that three Hindu sadhus from Ayodhya were trying to tarnish his image and incite religious tension. He wrote that one of these babas has provoked people in the name of religion and gave a contract to kill him (Gautam) by giving 50 lakhs to a person. Rajendra said he had only repeated the 22 pledges that Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar had taken while accepting Buddhism. There was nothing against anyone's religious sentiments.

Rajendra Pal Gautam, a minister in the Kejriwal government, had to resign from his post after the controversy escalated. There was a ruckus after taking an oath to boycott Hindu gods with people who attended an event. After the video of this program went viral, Hindu organizations and opposition parties attacked AAP fiercely.
