Kiran Rao is one of the renowned faces in bolllywood. Aamir Khan tied the knot with Kiran in 2005, years after getting divorced with his first wife Reena Dutta in 2002 .  Aamir always remained in news due to his marriage with Kiran Rao.  Kiran Rao is celebrating her birthday. On her birthday let us recall Aamir’s one controversial statement about Kiran for which even now Aamir faces criticism.

Aamir Khan once speaking about his then wife Kiran Rao said, “When I chat with Kiran at home, she says ‘Should we move out of India?’ That's a disastrous and big statement for Kiran to make. She fears for her child. She fears about what the atmosphere around us will be. She feels scared to open the newspapers every day. That does indicate that there is this sense of growing disquiet, there is growing despondency apart from alarm. You feel why this is happening, you feel low. That sense does exist in me.” 

Aamir Khan at that time and even now receives criticism because of this statement. His movies called for Boycott because of his this statement. People also started calling him Anti Indian. However Aamir several times apologized for it and clarified his statement but people did not forget it.

Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao had met on the sets of Ashutosh Gowariker's directorial venture, Lagaan, back in 2001. While Aamir was the main lead of the film, Kiran was one of the assistant directors. It was after his  divorce from first wife Reena Dutta that the actor met Kiran again. The two began dating after a while and got married on December 28, 2005.

They have a son, Azad Rao Khan, who was born through surrogacy in 2011. Aamir and Karan have ended their 15 year marriage. Describing their divorce not as an end, but as the start of a new journey, Aamir and Kiran had said that they will remain devoted parents to their son Azad.
