Delhi assembly elections: EVM seen in DTC bus, AAP leader says 'May be tampered'

New Delhi: There has been an uproar over the security of EVMs after the completion of voting for the Delhi Assembly elections. After voting on Saturday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) claimed that it had received information that some officials had attempted to carry electronic voting machines unauthorized.

AAP Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh told the media that, Manish Sisodia, Gopal Rai, Prashant Kishore and I had a meeting with CM Arvind Kejriwal. It was reported that in many places the authorities tried to carry the EVM unofficially. Sanjay Singh said that EVMs are sealed and sent directly to strong rooms, then how they got EVMs to the authorities. Sanjay Singh showed a video on his cell phone in which an election officer is seen holding an EVM in the DTC bus in his hand.

AAP leader Sanjay Singh said that, this is a video of Shanti Niketan of Badarpur. People have arrested the officer with EVMs here. Similar information has been received from Madhura and Vishwas Nagar in East Delhi. According to media reports, the AAP leader said that this is a big incident which has come to light. The Election Commission will be informed about this. He said that party MLAs and activists would be stationed outside strong rooms to prevent tampering of EVMs.
