Ahmedabad: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is busy campaigning vigorously ahead of the Assembly elections in Gujarat. Meanwhile, news has surfaced that during the campaign, AAP workers threatened the trustee of a temple and beat up the security personnel posted there. In fact, the trustee and the temple guard had refused to let them paste the poster on the wall. Now a complaint has been lodged in the police station in this case.

The complainant has been identified as Deeparam Prajapati (69). He lives near Chandralok Society Subhash Chowk in Memnagar, Ahmedabad. He filed a complaint against 3 unidentified workers of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday (September 14, 2022). He alleged that he was threatened by AAP workers for refusing to paste party posters on the wall in front of the temple. Temple trustee Deeparam Prajapati has informed that since 1992, he has been working as the chairman of the Rampir Temple Trust in Sola. On September 4, he saw some people sitting inside the temple pasting 'AAP' posters on a wall in front of the place of worship. The temple's security guard warned them not to put up posters in front of the temple.

According to the trustee, AAP goons started assaulting the security guard. During this time, Prajapati himself has also asked the workers not to put up posters. After which they left. But at around 5.30 pm, he again came to the temple office with 2-3 unidentified people. They posed as AAP members and started threatening them. According to Prajapati, he was threatened for not allowing the posters to be pasted. In his complaint, he said, "They threatened me with dire consequences and said that if AAP comes to power, they will teach me a lesson.'' The Sola police have registered the case under sections of criminal trespass, intimidation, hate speech and abetment and an investigation has been initiated to identify the accused.
