New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who has been avoiding appearing before investigators in the alleged Excise Policy scam, criticized the Central agencies and the Union government on Friday. He stated that for every summons sent to him, the AAP would construct an equivalent number of schools. Following the announcement of laying the foundation stone for a new school building in Mayur Vihar, Kejriwal posted on X, "We will build as many schools as you send summons. You do your work, we will do ours."
On Thursday, Kejriwal accused the central government of deploying investigating agencies against him, likening the situation to being treated like a "terrorist." His remarks came a day after a Delhi court issued summons for his appearance on February 17, noting that he was legally obligated to participate in an investigation conducted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) into alleged irregularities in the Delhi excise policy 2021-22.
The summons was issued due to Kejriwal's failure to comply with previous summons in a money laundering case related to the AAP government's Delhi excise policy. The complaint was lodged after Kejriwal skipped multiple summons issued by the ED in its money laundering investigation. Despite being summoned five times, Kejriwal continued to avoid appearing before the ED, with the AAP terming the summons "unlawful."
The fresh summons to Kejriwal followed his non-compliance with the fourth summons issued on January 18. He had also skipped summons on January 3, November 2, and December 22, labeling them "illegal and politically motivated." In other developments, AAP has scheduled a meeting of its Political Affairs Committee (PAC) on February 13 to finalize candidates for Lok Sabha seats in Goa, Haryana, and Gujarat.
