NEW DELHI: Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Monday. The meeting began with a warm hug and handshake between the leaders before they held discussions.

Sheikh Khaled arrived in New Delhi on September 8 for his first official visit to India. Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, welcomed him with a ceremonial reception at the airport.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) noted in a tweet, "A warm welcome for a close friend. PM Narendra Modi received Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi at Hyderabad House."

During his visit, Sheikh Khaled is scheduled to meet President Droupadi Murmu and pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat. On September 10, he will travel to Mumbai to participate in a Business Forum with leaders from both countries.

The MEA emphasized that the visit will strengthen the India-UAE bilateral relationship and open new avenues for collaboration. The India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has expanded to include areas such as trade, investment, energy, technology, and culture.

In February, PM Modi visited the UAE and discussed the bilateral relationship with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. They witnessed the exchange of eight agreements, including a Memorandum of Understanding for the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC).

The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) has also contributed to the growth in trade relations between the UAE and India. During his visit, PM Modi inaugurated the BAPS Mandir, the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi, and addressed the Indian diaspora at the 'Ahlan Modi' event in Abu Dhabi.
