West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said all private hospitals and nursing homes in the state will accept patients with Swasthya Sathi cards and a refusal could lead to cancellation of licence for the health establishments.
Speaking in Nadia, she said if anyone is denied or harassed, a complaint should be lodged at the police station. "No one should harass the people. We will take care of the rest," Mamata said.
She added that Swasthya Sathi is not for any individual, but for the entire family. "The entire family will get the facility. The Centre says they will launch the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
On the one hand, they are killing people and on the other, they are claiming they will save lives. Does anyone know what they are doing in Punjab and Haryana?" She said that while for Ayushman Bharat, the central government will provide 60% of the premium and the state has to bear the rest, for Swasthya Sathi the state government will bear the entire cost.
"I have also taken a Swasthya Sathi card. You and your family will get medical facilities worth Rs 5 lakh per year," she said.
