New Delhi: As many as least 8 people were killed and 3 others were critically injured after a road accident that took place in the Kishtwar district of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) on Tuesday, 30 August, officials said.
Reacting to the incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep grief over the deaths in an accident in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district.
The PM has also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2.00 (Two lakh) lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs50,000 to those injured from Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF), PMO said.
The Prime Minister's Office posted on Twitter: Saddened by the Kishtwar catastrophe. My condolences go out to the bereaved families. May the injured person recover as soon as possible. The next of kin of each deceased person would receive a payment of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF. PM @narendramodi also said the injured would receive Rs. 50,000. Eight people were killed and three others injured in a road accident in of Jammu & Kashmir's Kishtwar district on Tuesday.
The incident happened when a Tata Sumo taxi rolled into a deep gorge at Chatroo in the district after the driver lost control of the wheel. Eight people have been killed in this accident and 3 are injured," police said.
The Prime Minister prayed for the recovery of those injured in the accident and also expressed condolences to the bereaved families.
