In his statement, Gadkari said that a person obtains a license in Delhi and then in Jaipur and Mumbai, he further said that it is easiest to get a driving license in India. Presenting the Motor Vehicles Bill for your information, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said 30 percent of driving licenses in India are fake. The Aadhaar number will be mandatory for driving license and vehicle registration after the bill comes into force. At present, the driving license is valid for 20 years, but if the bill is passed, you will have to renew your license after 10 years. For a person of 55 years or more, the driving license will be valid for 5 years only. The Motor Vehicles (Revised) Bill was first introduced in 2016, which got stuck in the Rajya Sabha. The bill was then passed in the first term of the Modi government. The bill also takes the opinion of the standing committees with the suggestion of the Transport Minister of 18 states. The amount of penalty in the motor vehicle revised bill has been increased to 10 percent. If the bill is passed, the vehicle owner will have to pay a fine of Rs 1,000 for not installing the seatbelt. However, in the past, a fine of Rs 100 was to be paid if found without a helmet. On the other hand, crossing the speed limit will require a fine of Rs 5000 instead of Rs 500. The bill provides for heavy fines against drunken drivers. If found to be driving and drinking, he will have to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 instead of Rs 2000.
