Tokyo, April 13 (IANS). International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bak has dismissed claims that the IOC was not in favour of postponing the Tokyo Olympics due to coronavirus. He also rejected those things of conspiracy which are being linked by organizing the Olympics in 2021. Bak told the German newspaper Welt am Sontag on Sunday that the cost of the IOC in these games would increase by several million dollars due to the postponement of the Olympic Games. He said that it is difficult to find the actual data at this time.

Bak said, "In such emotional situations, as a responsible person, you cannot take decisions based only on instinctive thinking. In fact, we cannot be accused of hesitation or lack of transparency." He said," Suffice it to say that the IOC had insurance in case of cancellation of the game, not in case of postponement."

The Tokyo Olympics was scheduled to be held this July-August, but due to coronavirus, it has been postponed for a year and now it will be held between July 23 to August 8 next year. "Our top priority is to protect the health of athletes and everyone is involved," said Bak.
