Adani Cement, a part of the Gautam Adani-led conglomerate, has unveiled plans for a substantial investment of Rs 1,600 crore to set up a new cement grinding unit in Warisaliganj, Bihar. This major project marks a key step in the company's expansion strategy, aiming to invigorate the local economy and create numerous employment opportunities.
The new facility, with a production capacity of 6 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), is designed to significantly boost Adani Cement's output and reinforce its dedication to sustainable infrastructure development in both Bihar and India. The project will be executed in three phases. The first phase, involving an investment of Rs 1,100 crore for a 2.4 MTPA unit, is expected to be operational by December 2025.
The site for the cement grinding unit is situated in Mosama village, Tehsil Warisaliganj, District Nawada, Bihar. It benefits from excellent connectivity, being just 1 km from Warisaliganj railway station and 500 meters from SH-83.
The new unit is set to transform the region by generating direct and indirect employment opportunities and supporting the state's growing infrastructure needs. Adani Cement's investment aligns with its vision of bolstering India's economic growth while upholding environmental sustainability.
At a foundation stone-laying ceremony hosted by the Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA), Chief Minister Nitish Kumar praised the investment, stating, "This initiative by the Adani Group underscores Bihar's growth potential and our dedication to fostering sustainable development."
The project is expected to contribute around Rs 250 crore annually to the state's fiscal revenue, creating 250 direct jobs and 1,000 indirect jobs. The event was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, and Industry Minister Nitish Mishra.
Karan Adani, Non-Executive, Non-Independent Director at Ambuja, shared his excitement about the development on social media, noting, "We are thrilled to announce this significant investment, which will create substantial job opportunities and enhance the local economy. Adani Cement is committed to supporting sustainable infrastructure development in Bihar and across India."
