New Delhi: As the date of the monsoon session of Parliament is approaching, the politics is also starting on this. During the session, there is a possibility of ruckus on the question hour and zero hour. Congress Party leader in Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has written a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in this regard.

Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary in his letter has asked the Lok Sabha Speaker to continue the Question Hour and Zero Hour during the session. Chaudhary has written that in the parliamentary system, Question Hour and Zero Hour have got a special right, in which they raise the necessary issues in the House apart from questioning the Government. Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary has expressed the apprehension that the number of notices that MPs have to give during Zero Hour to raise necessary issues may be reduced. He says that by doing so, the MPs will not get much opportunity to put forth their point which they are entitled to.

The proceedings of the Lok Sabha begin with the Question Hour, in which the Government answers the questions of the members. The usual zero hour time begins immediately after the Question Hour at 12 noon, in which members raise different issues. The letter from Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary has come at a time when talks are on for adjournment of the Question Hour during the Monsoon Session of Parliament starting on 14 September. However, no final decision has been taken in this regard so far.
