New Delhi: Ahead of the monsoon session of Parliament, Congress Parliamentary Party President Sonia Gandhi has fixed the responsibility of party leaders in both the Houses to make the business effective and convenient. In this, he has maintained the order of seniority of the leaders. Sonia Gandhi has re-elected Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary as the party leader in the Lok Sabha while Gaurav Gogoi has been appointed as her deputy. The order said, K Suresh will be the Chief Whip and Ravneet Singh Bittu and Manikam Tagore will be the party whips in the Lok Sabha. Shashi Tharoor and Manish Tewari have also been included in the group.

Mallikarjun Kharge has been made the Leader of the House for the same Rajya Sabha while Anand Sharma has been appointed as his deputy. The party has appointed Jairam Ramesh as the Chief Whip in the Rajya Sabha along with Ambika Soni, P Chidambaram, Digvijay Singh, and KC Venugopal. The order issued by Sonia Gandhi says that I have decided to reconstitute the groups as Chairperson of the CPP in both the Houses of Parliament to facilitate and ensure the effective functioning of our party.

The same groups will meet daily during the session and can also make these gifts during the session. As far as the issues of Parliament are concerned, joint meetings of all these groups can also be convened if required. Rajya Sabha leader Mallikarjun Kharge will be the coordinator of the joint meetings. The monsoon session of Parliament is scheduled to begin on Monday. Earlier, opposition leaders are scheduled to meet on Sunday. It is expected to chalk out a plan to target the Central Government on a number of issues including the Supreme Court's comment on the validity of the Kisan movement, privatization, and sedition laws.
