New Delhi: The Delhi High Court said during a hearing on Tuesday that the adult woman or girl is free to choose where and with whom to live. The High Court has reiterated the principle laid down by the apex court by saying so. A family petition was being heard in the court, in which the family had alleged that their 20-year-old girl had been missing since September 20.
However, the family later said that the girl had been lured away by someone from the family. In this case, the Delhi High Court also heard the statement of that 20-year-old girl. The girl was introduced through a video conference. The girl said that she left the house on her own free will. The girl also told that she got married to her will. After hearing the girl's statement, the court has ordered the Delhi Police to leave the girl safe till her husband's house.
The police were also asked to explain to the girl's family that they should not take the law into their own hands. Not only this, the Officer of the area was also asked to give the number to the couple, which can be called if needed. This decision was delivered in the court by a bench of Justices Vipin Sanghi and Rajneesh Bhatnagar.
