Afghan Taliban raids on IS hideouts result in the deaths of 8 people

Kabul: Afghanistan's ruling Taliban killed eight Islamic State militants and detained nine others in a series of raids targeting key figures in Kabul in a wave of attacks, a senior Taliban government spokesman said on Thursday. Informed.

According to Taliban government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, Wednesday's raids in the capital city and western Nimroz province were directed at IS militants who recently planned attacks on Kabul's Longan Hotel, Pakistan's embassy and military airport .

According to Mujahid, eight IS fighters, including foreigners, were killed and seven others were detained in Kabul, while a separate operation in western Nimroz province resulted in the detention of two more.

According to a tweet by Mujahid, these individuals played a key role in the attack on the Chinese hotel and paved the way for foreign IS members to enter Afghanistan.

The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for Sunday's deadly bombing near a checkpoint at the military airport in the Afghan capital. IS claimed that the same terrorist who took part in the Longan Hotel attack in mid-December was responsible for that attack.

Since the Taliban took control of the country in 2021, the Islamic State group's regional affiliate known as Islamic State in Khorasan Province and a key enemy of the Taliban has stepped up its attacks in Afghanistan. Both Taliban patrols and Shia Afghans have been targeted in the past.

IS released a photo of the attacker and identified him as Abdul Jabbar, claiming he abandoned the hotel attack after running out of ammunition. Additionally, he targeted the soldiers gathered at the outpost when he detonated his explosives-laden vest.

According to Mujahid, during the raid on an IS hideout in the Shahdai Salehin neighborhood, Taliban security forces seized light weapons, grenades, mines, vests and explosives. Residents of the area heard multiple explosions and prolonged gunfire.

In August 2021, as US and NATO forces were preparing to leave Afghanistan after 20 years of war, the Taliban took control of the entire country.
