Kabul: Several Afghan women marched to the streets of Kabul on Sunday to demand the opportunity to learn and work under the new Islamic Emirates government. The Afghan Taliban-led interim government's failure to provide women with the right to education and employment has sparked protests and outrage across the country. Protesters sang pro-rights slogans while simultaneously criticising the international world for allegedly disregarding the country's critical need for basic rights for women.

The new protest is the latest in a series of demonstrations staged by Afghan women since the Taliban assumed control of Afghanistan. "We can live without food and suffer hunger, but we cannot tolerate injustice. In our country, we demand freedom and justice ", one of the demonstrators shouted. In the past, Taliban security agents assaulted and detained female protestors, while media personnel covering the rally were also assaulted and detained.

Demonstrations without the approval of the relevant ministry would not be allowed, according to the Afghan Taliban interim government's Ministry of Interior (MoI). Later, in Kabul, a pro-Taliban female protest was conducted, with women chanting pro-Taliban chants and expressing support for the country's newly enforced Islamic law.
