Riyadh: Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has announced the establishment of the country's first non-profit city.

According to sources, the Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Non-Profit City in Riyadh would serve as a model for the global development of the non-profit sector and an incubator for youth and volunteer groups, as well as local and foreign non-profit institutions. The city will be developed on a 3.4-square-kilometre plot of land and will promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and future leadership qualification by defining non-profit work.

Following the launch on Sunday, the Crown Prince stated that the city that implements the digital twin model will host academies, colleges, schools, a conference centre, a science museum, and a creative centre offering a space to support the ambitions of innovators in sciences and new generation technology.

In addition, the city will host venture capital firms and investors to help fund and nurture creative businesses, resulting in global community contributions. The city's opening comes only days after Saudi Arabia announced that it will grant Saudi nationality to some talented individuals in order to encourage creativity and innovation.
