Sanaa: Yemen's Houthi militia claimed responsibility for firing three ballistic missiles at a Saudi Arabian military base in the south. According to reports, three ballistic missiles hit the first Regiment in Dhahran Aljanob city in Saudi Arabia's Asir region, killing dozens of Saudi soldiers, including the regiment commander.

"The Saudi forces intercepted and destroyed three ballistic missiles launched by the Houthi militia from Yemen towards the Asir region," Al-Arabiya TV reported earlier on Wednesday. In addition, the Yemeni Houthi militia claimed four ballistic missile attacks on three Yemeni government military bases inside Yemen, according to their spokesman.

Two ballistic missiles struck a military base in Taiz province, while two others struck two bases in Marib province. Since February, when the Iran-backed Yemeni Houthi militia launched a major offensive against the Saudi-backed Yemeni government army to capture the oil-rich province of Marib, cross-border missile and drone attacks on Saudi cities have increased.

Yemen has been engulfed in civil war since late 2014, when the Houthi militia seized control of several northern provinces and drove President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi's internationally recognised government out of the capital Sanaa.
