Jonathan Trott, the coach of Afghanistan, expressed disappointment with his team's performance in their recent T20 World Cup Super Eight match against India. Trott highlighted issues with his batters' shot selection and their failure to handle Jasprit Bumrah's bowling effectively.

India's pace spearhead, Bumrah, proved formidable once more, claiming three Afghan wickets while conceding only seven runs in four outstanding overs at Kensington Oval. Trott lamented the missed opportunities, particularly against Bumrah, emphasizing the importance of executing their pre-match strategies.

"We're obviously disappointed with some of the shot choices and decision-making," Trott commented after Afghanistan's 47-run loss in the Group 1 encounter. "Bumrah is a crucial bowler for India and we knew we had to play him better. Unfortunately, our performance against him didn't reflect our preparations, which is very disappointing."

India posted a challenging total of 181-8, fueled by Suryakumar Yadav's second consecutive half-century. Despite captain Rashid Khan completing his bowling quota by the 14th over, India managed to score 66 runs in the final six overs. Trott defended Rashid's strategy but urged other bowlers to step up.

"Rashid bowled exceptionally well today, finishing with figures of three for 26," Trott praised. "It's not just about one bowler; others need to execute their plans effectively throughout the innings."

Looking ahead, Afghanistan will face Australia in their next match in Kingstown on Saturday, aiming to bounce back from their defeat against India.
