Raipur: The Bhupesh Baghel government in Chhattisgarh is going to buy cow urine after cow dung. The process of procurement of cow urine will begin from Hareli Tihar on July 28. The Department of Agriculture Development and Farmers Welfare and Biotechnology, Government of Chhattisgarh has proposed a minimum amount of Rs.4 per litre for procurement of cow urine in the state.

In the first phase, cow urine will be procured in 2 gauthans in each district. Women's Self Help Groups will prepare bio-germ and pest control products from cow urine. The selected groups will be trained in collaboration with the Department of Veterinary Sciences and Krishi Vigyan Kendra. Managing Director of Godhan Nyaya Mission, Dr Aiyaz Tamboli has directed all district magistrates to complete all preparations for the purchase of cow urine in the gauthans. He said that under the Godhan Nyaya Yojana, the Gauthan Management Committee will procure cow urine from the interest amount of the circular fund available in its bank accounts. He has asked the District Magistrates to select 2 Gauthans, Self Help Groups of their respective districts, to provide training to the members of the Gauthan management committee and self-help groups. At the same time, instructions have been given to arrange for cow urine testing, cow-related kits and storage of the product.

The managing director of the Godhan Nyaya Mission, Dr Ayaz Tamboli has asked all the District Magistrates to prepare a list of selected Gauthans and self-help groups and make it available at the earliest on e-mail dirvet.cg@gmail.com. Two years ago, i.e. on July 20, 2020, under the Godhan Nyaya Yojana, the state started the purchase of cow dung in gauthans from the day of the Hareli festival. Under this scheme, more than 20 lakh quintals of vermicompost, super compost, and super plus compost have been produced so far by women's self-help groups. This has given a boost to organic farming in the State.
