R D Burman is popularly known as Pancham Da. He was born in the year 1939 on 27th June in a Bengali family. His father Sachin Dev Burman was a famous music composer and singer in the industry and his mother Meera Dev Burman used to write lyrics for songs. At the age of 17 he composed his first song, 'Ae Meri Topi Palat Ke Aa', which was sung by his father in the film.
His popular song includes 'Sar Jo Tera Chakraye' from Guru Dutt's film 'Pyaasa', which is still on people's lips. He started his career as an assistant to his father. Pancham da, who had made the world fall in love with his songs, was very romantic in real life as well, after divorcing his first wife, Pancham da found his love 'Asha Bhosle' in the music industry.
As per the reports Asha Bhosle was also not at all happy with her first husband Ganpat Bhosle. The veteran singer has sang many songs for Pancham Da and from here the beautiful journey of their love started. Pancham da's tune and Asha Bhosle's melodious voice seem like they were made for each other. Asha Bhosle was six years older than Burman, due to which Pancham da's mother was strongly against this relationship. When Pancham Da took permission from his mother to marry, she refused.
Pancham Da had to wait a long time for marriage and this wait came to an end in the 1980s when both of them got married. However, the journey of this musical love story of Pancham da and Asha Bhosle could not last long and Pancham da died at the age of 54 only after 14 years of marriage.
