A 30-year-old man was allegedly lynched in Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh, after losing control of his vehicle and collision with a bike. Munshi Gautam, a Dalit, was driving a tractor in Berwa Paharpur village while drunk when he lost control of the vehicle after passing over a speed breaker and collided with a bicycle. He was apprehended by the locals and beaten to death as he attempted to flee.

Anil Kumar, the Superintendent of Police, said: "As people sought to apprehend him, he sped up in an attempt to get away, but he hit a tree and crashed onto the road. He was grabbed by the throng and attacked brutally. He was afterwards escorted to a community health centre, where doctors declared him dead."

According to the officer, a case has been filed against one Jai Shankar Pandey and three other persons, and Pandey has been detained.
