New Delhi: After the liquor, bus and toilet scam in the national capital, now the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has been accused of a water scam. Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena has ordered the registration of a case against Delhi Jal Board (DJB) officials in connection with the Rs 20 crore scam. Along with this, he has also sought an action taken report from the Chief Secretary in 15 days.
According to media reports, LG Saxena of Delhi has taken this decision on Saturday (September 24, 2022). It is also alleged that the scam started when Congress was in power in Delhi. After this, the AAP government was formed and since then the 'Delhi Jal Board' is under the AAP government. Let us know that the BJP has been accusing the Delhi government for a long time regarding the ongoing scam in DJB. At the same time, many bank employees are also expected to be involved in this case. Along with this, it is alleged that many officials of 'DJB' under the Kejriwal government are also involved in this scam.
According to media reports, the Delhi government is accused of not transferring the bill amount of about Rs 20 crore collected from consumers between 2012 and 2019 to the DJB account. It is being told that DJB had entrusted the responsibility of recovering bills from consumers to Corporation Bank in 2012. After this, in violation of the contract, the bank handed over the work to a private company. Due to this process, for many years, the number of water bills taken from consumers went to the private bank account, while it should have gone to the bank account of DJB. According to the LG office, a total of Rs 20 crore should have come to the DJB account between 2012-2019, but they did not reach.
At the same time, DJB Vice President Saurabh Bhardwaj claimed that Delhi Deputy CM and DJB Chairman Manish Sisodia had issued orders to investigate the matter a few days ago and also instructed the CEO of DJB to take strict action against the officials.
The AAP government is embroiled in several scams:
The AAP government in Delhi is already accused of a DTC bus scam, liquor scam and toilet scam. Recently, Delhi Congress leaders accused Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia of a toilet scam. He had said that the Delhi government was planning to hand over the management of public toilets in the city to a banned company instead of NGOs.
Now the Delhi BJP has also targeted the AAP over the newly revealed water scam. Bjp MP Parvesh Sahib Singh tweeted, "DTC bus scam, classroom scam, liquor scam, waqf board scam and now another new scam in Jal Board and how much money will Kejriwal grab! The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi has ordered the Chief Secretary Delhi to register an FIR against DJB officials and others for alleged embezzlement of Rs 20 crores.''
