Mumbai: The condition of farmers in India these days seems to be very pathetic. At first, unseasonal rains destroyed the ready-made crops in the fields and the quality of crops where the crops were not destroyed is not good. Due to poor quality, the farmers here are not getting the proper price for the crops. In view of this, a shocking case has come to light from Solapur in Maharashtra. In fact, a farmer in Maharashtra's Solapur earned only Rs 13 after selling 1123 kg of onions.

The farmer leader of Maharashtra has termed it as unacceptable, but a commission agent has claimed that the quality of onion grown by the farmer was poor, which has led to the low price of his crop in the market. As per the information received recently, in the sale receipt given by the Commission Agent at Solapur, Bappu Kavde, a farmer from Maharashtra, sent 1,123 kg of onion to the market and instead received only Rs. 1,665.50. It is said to include labour cost, weighing fee and transportation cost of carrying goods from farm to commission agent shop while the cost of production is Rs 1,651.98. That is, the farmer earned only Rs.13.

Raju Shetty, leader of the self-respecting farming organisation and former Lok Sabha MP who tweeted the Kavde's sales receipt, said, "What will anyone do with these Rs 13. That is unacceptable. The farmer sent 24 sacks of onion from his farm to the commission agent's shop and in return earned only Rs 13 from it. The condition of farmers in almost all parts of the country remains the same. The farmers of the country are suffering from various problems these days due to rain.
