New Delhi: The phase of rumors started from 15 December 2019 in opposition to CAA is now coming to a standstill. At the same time, Delhi Police is also agreeing that after the appeal and strictness, rumors are no longer going on Facebook, WhatsApp group and Twitter. Delhi Police has written a letter to the concerned agencies to remove more than 70 messages and block WhatsApp group. Other units, including the cyber cell of Delhi Police, have not registered any issue regarding rumors circulating against the Citizen Amendment Act. Only one case has been registered in Mukherjee Nagar police station.

According to the information received from the sources, the first protest in protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act was organized by the students of Jamia on 13 December. The protest turned violent on 15 December. Along with this, rumors started to circulate on various social platforms. Fake videos and messages started running. On 15 December, the message was posted on social media that the police fired on the protesters in Jamia. Two youths died due to this. After this, Delhi Police spokesman Mandeep Singh Randhawa appealed to the people not to spread the rumor nor pay attention to it. After this, the special cell's cybercrime team started keeping an eye on the social media platform.

At the same time, it has been known that the era of rumors going on in opposition to the Civil Amendment Act has almost come to an end. The cybercrime unit is still monitoring the messages running online for 24 hours. Wherever some objectionable message goes, a letter is written to the social media concerned to remove it.
