New Delhi: Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar unveiled two new portals on Monday, one of which is for pesticide registration. Another portal is for documents linked to agri-products and plant imports and exports.

In an event held in the Pusa complex, the minister launched the two portals, CROP (Comprehensive Registration of Pesticides) and PQMS (Plant Quarantine Management System), with the goal of improving the convenience of doing business. Tomar, speaking at the ceremony, said the two new portals were introduced to simplify the registration and paperwork process for pesticides for export-import simple and transparent.  He emphasised that the administration is dedicated to making system adjustments if necessary.

Tomar emphasised the importance of the agriculture sector in the Indian economy and the necessity to enhance it. He noted that the country is not only self-sufficient in foodgrain production but also has surplus stocks, which he credits to the efforts of farmers, agricultural scientists' research, and the government's farmer-friendly policies.

Despite the COVID-19 epidemic, the minister claimed that the country's foodgrain production and government procurement operations were unaffected. To make India even stronger, he emphasised the need to develop the agriculture sector through government policies, research initiatives, a focus on quality, transparency, and ease of doing business.

He noted that the central government and state governments have taken a number of initiatives to implement reforms, attract investment in the agriculture sector, and boost farmers' income through a stronger agri-marketing system. Agriculture Secretary Manoj Ahuja said the two new portals were created to make doing business easier and to make systems clear, fair, and transparent.
