New Delhi:- OpenAI today announced the general availability of its latest text generation model, GPT-4, via its API. Starting this afternoon, all existing OpenAI API developers with a “successful payment history” will have access to their GPT-4.
The company plans to open access to new developers by the end of this month, after which it will begin increasing availability caps "depending on computing availability."
“Since March, millions of developers have requested access to the GPT-4 API, and the range of innovative products leveraging GPT-4 is growing daily,” OpenAI said in a blog post. Stated. “We envision a future where chat-based models can support any use case.”

GPT-4 can generate text (including code) and accept image and text input. It is an improvement over its predecessor, GPT-3.5, which only accepted text, and performs "human-level" on various professional and academic benchmarks. As with previous OpenAI GPT models, GPT-4 was trained using publicly available data, including data from public websites and data licensed by OpenAI.
Image understanding capabilities are not yet available to all his OpenAI customers. OpenAI is initially testing with one of her partners, Be My Eyes. However, it has not announced when it will open to a wider customer base. It's worth noting that, like the best generative AI models today, GPT-4 isn't perfect either. It "hallucinates" the facts, sometimes confidently erring in reasoning. And they fail at hard problems such as introducing vulnerabilities into the code they generate without learning from experience.
In the future, OpenAI will use its own data to allow developers to use their own data to generate one of the other newer but less powerful text generation models, GPT-4 and GPT-3.5 Turbo (as well as the original, which supported ChatGPT). It states that it will allow fine-tuning of one of its models, which has been possible for some time, as have several other OpenAI text generation models. According to OpenAI, the feature will be available later this year.

Since the release of his GPT-4 in March, the race for generative AI has intensified. Recently, Anthropic expanded the context window of Claude (the flagship text-generating AI model still in preview) from his 9,000 tokens to 100,000 tokens. (The context window refers to the text that the model considers before generating additional text, whereas the tokens represent the raw text. For example, the word 'fantastic' has the tokens 'fan', 'tas', and 'tic' divided into
GPT-4 holds the previous throne in terms of contextual windows, and at the high end, he weighed 32,000 tokens. In general, models with small context windows tend to "forget" even very topical conversations and get off topic.
In a related announcement today, OpenAI announced the general availability of the DALL-E 2 and Whisper APIs. DALL-E 2 is OpenAI's image generation model, and "Whisper" refers to the company's speech-to-text model. The company also said it plans to phase out legacy models available through APIs to "optimize computing power." (In recent months, OpenAI has struggled to keep up with the demand for generative models, largely thanks to ChatGPT's surge in popularity.)
After January 4, 2024, certain older OpenAI models, notably his GPT-3 and its derivatives, will no longer be available and will be replaced by newer "base GPT-3" models that are considered more computationally efficient. Developers using older models will have until January 4th to manually update their integrations. Also, if you want to continue using the fine-tuned old model after January 4th, you'll need to fine-tune the replacement model with the new GPT-3 base model.

“We will support users who have previously refined their models to make this transition as smooth as possible,” OpenAI wrote. “In the coming weeks, we will be reaching out to developers who have recently used these older models and will provide more information as soon as the newly finished models are ready for initial testing.”
The OpenAI is now getting more featured and enhanced by launching the new GPT-4 with all the upgrades and updated with the latest Information.
