Chennai: The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) declared its last slate of contenders for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. AIADMK leader Edappadi Palaniswami asserted during the announcement, "For AIADMK, there is no pressure. Our party has withstood challenges since its inception by MGR and persevered through Jayalalitha's leadership after MGR's demise. We will confront every challenge within legal bounds."

The AIADMK lineup includes Prem Kumar for Sriperumbudur, S Pasupathi for Vellore, R Ashokan for Dharmapuri, M Kaliyaperumal for Tiruvannamalai, Kumara Guru for Kallakurichi, P Arunachalam for Tiruppur, D Lokesh Tamil Slevan for Nilgris, Singai G Ramachandran for Coimbatore. Karthikeyan is slated for Pollachi, P Karuppaya for Trichy, Chandra Mohan for Perambalur, Babu for Mayiladuthurai, Panaguri A Xavier Dhas for Sivangangai, Sivasami Vedhanmani for Thoothkudi, Mutu Chozhan for Tirunelveli, Pasiliyan Nazret for Kanniyakumari, and G Tamil Vendhan for Pondicherry. Rani has been nominated for the Vilavankodu seat in the Assembly by-election.

Previously, on Wednesday, AIADMK unveiled its initial list of contestants. The party also concluded a seat-sharing arrangement for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 with the DMDK, Tamil Nadu's principal opposition. AIADMK general secretary Edappadi Palaniswami and DMDK general secretary Premalatha Vijayakanth inked the pact in Chennai on Wednesday.

In the AIADMK-led alliance, AIADMK will contest 32 seats, DMDMK will vie for 5 seats, SDPI for 1 seat, and Puthiya Tamilagam for 1 seat, allocated from the Tenkasi constituency. Tamil Nadu will hold elections on April 19 in a single-phase polling session. During the 2019 general elections, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-led Secular Progressive Alliance clinched a landslide victory, securing 38 out of the 39 seats. The Lok Sabha elections will unfold in seven phases across the nation from April 19 to June 1, with vote counting scheduled for June 4.
