New Delhi: Late last night, a tragic accident unfolded in the Kabir Nagar area of Delhi, resulting in the collapse of a building and claiming the lives of two individuals, while leaving one seriously injured. The incident occurred around 2:16 AM, with the deceased identified as 30-year-old Arshad and 20-year-old Tauheed. The injured individual, 22-year-old Rehan, is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. North East Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Joy Tirkey assured that appropriate legal action would be taken in response to the incident.
According to officials, an emergency call was received from local residents late at night, prompting a swift response. It was reported that the first floor of the building was vacant at the time of the incident, while the ground floor was utilized for cutting jeans. The building's owner, identified as Shahid, is currently being sought. Furthermore, efforts are underway to locate him. Presently, a National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team is deployed at the scene to assist in rescue and recovery operations.
Local witnesses have suggested that the house where the accident occurred spans 25 yards, with the landlord owning another property nearby. Allegedly, the adjacent house was undergoing demolition, and a new structure was being constructed. Concerns have been raised that the demolition activities may have led to structural damage, resulting in the collapse of the multi-storey building.
The presence of the NDRF team underscores the gravity of the situation, as efforts continue to assess the extent of the damage and ensure the safety of the surrounding area. As investigations unfold, authorities remain vigilant to prevent further harm and provide assistance to those affected by the tragic incident.
