New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Nalin Kohli criticized the Congress on Thursday for labeling a government elected by the people as 'Asura Shakti', suggesting that such remarks signify a lack of faith in the Indian electorate. Kohli's response came in reaction to Rahul Gandhi's recent 'Asura-Shakti' comment, which had drawn strong condemnation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other BJP figures.

Responding to Rahul Gandhi's statement, Kohli expressed disbelief, stating, "By calling a government elected by the people 'Asura Shakti', the Congress is confirming that they have no faith in the people of India, the voters of India, those who determine the destiny of India." He questioned whether the Congress truly believed that people voted for 'Asuras', emphasizing that the Congress seemed to be seeking excuses and shifting blame for their own shortcomings rather than presenting credible reasons to the electorate.

On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi reiterated his 'Shakti' remark, emphasizing that they are combating against a form of power filled with hatred. "We are fighting against hatred-filled 'Asura Shakti'," stated the Congress leader during a press conference in the national capital.

Further addressing the issue, Rahul Gandhi criticized the central government, asserting that democracy in India was non-existent today. He claimed that the notion of India being a democracy was a falsehood.
