AIADMK leader R Kanagaraj Died while reading the newspaper

Coimbatore: All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) leader R.R. Kanagaraj died on Thursday morning with cardiac arrest in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. He was 64 years old. According to sources, around 7:30 in the morning, he had a cardiac arrest while he was reading the newspaper at his house. Mr. Kanagaraj is survived by his wife, a son, and daughter. He was an agriculturalist by profession.

Party sources told that Kanagaraaj, who was reading the newspaper from Sulur assembly constituency in Coimbatore district, suddenly got a cardiac arrest. A doctor who came from the neighborhood to the legislator's house tried his best to save him, but could not save him. His body was placed at his residence in Sultanapet, where people paid their last respect to him. 

MK Stalin, the chief of opposition DMK, condoled the lawmaker's death. Kanagaraj was elected MLA for the first time from the Sulur assembly. He was in AIADMK for 35 years. With Mr. Kanagaraj's death, the AIADMK's strength in the Tamil Nadu assembly has come down to 113, five short of a majority. The total vacancy in the assembly has touched 22. Election to 18 of these seats has been scheduled for April 18 along with the national election.
