LUCKNOW: The All-India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has established a state-level committee comprising seven members to actively oppose the government's proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC).
Having already engaged with national leaders of various political parties, the committee is now seeking an audience with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Maulana Mohammad Suleman, a member of the board's executive committee and part of the seven-member team, stated, "We are currently in communication with the chief minister's office, awaiting a response to our request for a meeting."
Maulana Suleman disclosed that more than 100 Muslim organizations and other affiliated groups opposing the UCC will gather at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on July 26 and 27 to publicly denounce the government's initiative.
Moreover, Maulana Suleman mentioned that the board's Uttar Pradesh committee members, including Maulana Khalid Rashid Firangi Mahali, Maulana Atiq Ahmed Bastavi, and Aamna Rizwan, have met with SP chief and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav to discuss the UCC matter.
"The SP chief has expressed satisfaction with the state committee formed by the board and has committed to opposing the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code at every level," he asserted. "Isn't it imperative for our country to have a Uniform Civil Code? The committee has been engaging with organizations and political parties at the state level, engaging in comprehensive discussions regarding the UCC."
In the meantime, members of the AIMPLB executive committee revealed that the board has dispatched different delegations to present memorandums to political and social organizations nationwide.
"Memos have been delivered to Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, Telangana CM K. Chandrashekhar Rao, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Union minister Ramdas Athawale, as well as Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray, among others," stated Maulana Khalid Rasheed Firangi Mahali, a member of AIMPLB.
