NEW DELHI: In a bid to to boost connectivity between key metro cities, Air India will launch 24 additional domestic flights from Saturday, August 20 onwards. It is reported that most of these flights will be deployed on the metro city routes including Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, among others.
While Air India will add two new frequencies from Delhi to Mumbai, Bangalore and Ahmedabad, and in return Mumbai to Chennai and Hyderabad, one new frequency on the Mumbai-Bangalore route and Ahmedabad-Pune route will be included as well.
Commenting on the network development, Campbell Wilson, MD and CEO of Air India said: "By strengthening connections between major cities, this expansion also enhances connections across Air India's domestic and international networks.
Air India has been working closely with our partners to put aircraft back into service for the past six months, and we are delighted that this effort is now paying off." There are now 70 aircraft in Air India's narrowbody fleet, 54 of which are operational. By the beginning of 2023, the remaining 16 aircraft will gradually enter service again.
