Tata Group-owned Air India is mulling hiring over 4,200 cabin crew trainees and 900 pilots in 2023, a reports said.

The new announcement comes less than two weeks after the aviator signed major deals with Airbus SE and Boeing to supply 470 aircraft.

Formerly, Air India employed more than 1,900 cabin workers. Approximately 1,100 cabin crew were taught between July 2022 and January 2023, between May 2022 and February 2023, and over the previous three months. The airline has released 500 cabin staff members to fly.

With a sizeable aircraft order that was announced earlier in the month, more flights on international and domestic networks, and re-alignment of domestic routes with AIX connect, cabin crew will play a key role in shaping the present and future of the Air India group," Air India's Head for Inflight Service Sandeep Verma said, while commenting on the hiring plans.

"The addition of fresh talent will also strengthen the momentum of cultural transformation at Air India, which is an integral part of our Vihaan - The Air India transformation program. We are also looking to step up hiring of more pilots and maintenance engineers," he added.

The cabin crew, who will be recruited from applicants across the nation, will go through a fifteen-week training programme that teaches safety and customer service abilities. They will also receive coaching on how to best represent Indian hospitality and Tata Group culture.

Also, their training programme would involve familiarisation flights as well as intensive classroom and in-flight training at the airline's training centre in Mumbai.
