New Delhi: Amid the lockdown implemented to prevent the outbreak of the epidemic, IndiGo Airlines has taken a major decision. The airline has decided to provide data to the Meteorological Department for accurate forecasts. Explain that the data required for accurate weather forecast is unavailable for the Meteorological Department, because flights are stalled due to lockdown.
The airline IndiGo said that IMD could not get the required data for accurate forecast of the weather, as most of the aircraft are closed due to lockdown, as well as shortage of staff. IndiGo has stated that it has made a plan that the company's pilots will provide the necessary information regarding the strong winds and temperature at various stages of the flight as is expected from all flight operations to IMD.
The airline said that the pilots will be informed about the weather conditions at high altitudes while going to the destination to assist in the weather forecast format. Giving information about IndiGo's Senior Vice President of Aircraft Operations, Ashim Mitra said that it is important for our pilots to give information about this during flight operations. We will send the information given by each flight within two hours to the headquarters of the Meteorological Department so that they can use this data for the benefit of the country.
