CBI booked AirAsia CEO Tony Fernandes and 4 others

NEW DELHI: As the recent reports received by TOI, The CBI has lodged a case against AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes and others over alleged breach of norms for obtaining international flying licenses, officials asserted on Tuesday.

This case on the subject of alleged violation of norms by directors of the aviation corporation for relaxation of 5/20 rules in the aviation sector to obtain licenses for worldwide operations, as well as destruction of Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB)rules, they informed.

 What is The 5/20 rule :

The 5/20 rule implies that a company requires five years of experience and 20 aircraft to develop as an eligible for receiving the license, the officials said.

Director of Singapore-based SNR Trading Rejendra Dubey and an unknown public servants have been named in the FIR.

The search operations are going on at six locations in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru, the officials further asserted.

 The probe agency has alleged that AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes lobbied with government servants for clearances, removal of existing 5/20 rule of aviation and manipulate in regulatory policies.
