Airtel is set to introduce its 5G services in India soon. The previous day, the company showcased its Next Generation Network, after which an official of the company in the interview has said that the company's 5G services are going to be launched in India soon after the government completes the spectrum auction. The company is set to try to overtake Reliance Jio through this move which is currently the largest telecom company in the country. Airtel showcased a surround video using the 3,500MHz band test spectrum given by the Department of Telecom (DoT). The demonstration has already been held at the company's Network Experience Centre at Manesar in Gurugram.

In an interview with the media, CEO Randeep Shekon said that Airtel is going to launch its 5G services within 2-3 months after the completion of the spectrum auction. Where he said, "This is not a race. We think airtel is ready to introduce the 5G service after the spectrum auction. He indicated that the tariff of 5G plans in the country is going to be the same as that of 4G plans.

In January last year, Airtel had launched a live demo of its 5G network in Hyderabad. After that, in June, the company launched it in Gurugram, in which in the testing phase it was offering speeds of up to 1Gbps. Airtel is also tying up with Qualcomm last year to strengthen its 5G network rollout in the country.

Like Airtel, Jio had announced last year that it is testing its 5G network with speeds of up to 1Gbps. Google, Intel and Qualcomm are also associated with Jio.
